Description

This private tour will let you get a thorough understanding of Beijing in three days. Not only you will see some iconic places which represent the old part of Beijing, but also the modern parts of Beijing; interpreted by some art galleries, skyscrapers, modern museums and popular bar streets. You will enjoy a cup of coffee on the 80th floor of the China World Tower while appreciating the beauty of Beijing illuminated at night; dine in a traditional courtyard restaurant at the Ghost Street; walk around Sanlitun which is the most popular bar street in Beijing. Your private vehicle will also drive along the Chang’an Avenue and Tian’anmen Square at night, with many iconic buildings illuminated on either side. Meals and hotel accommodation is not inclusive.

DAY 1: Meet your guide in the lobby and start the tour from Tian’anmen Square which has witnessed some of the most dramatic chapters of China history. You will see the City Planning Hall first, then watch a 3D movie and walk around the exhibitions to learn more about the evolution and future planning of the city. Then enter the Square to see some of the iconic buildings in Beijing.

Next, visit the Forbidden City, which was built in 1420 and served as the imperial residence for 24 emperors of China. Your tour also includes a visit to the Horologe Room, where some exquisitely designed clocks are on display.

After lunch time (your guide can help with restaurant recommendations), venture into the city's Hutongs, the narrow alleyways that run through the city's historic neighborhoods. Then, take a rickshaw and visit a local family to gain an insight into Beijing life, before taking a walk around the Houhai Lake, the most popular pub street in Beijing.

DAY 2: No trip to Beijing is complete without visiting the Great Wall of China. Mutianyu is a section of the Wall with less tourists, which was built and restored in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The remnants of the Wall were originally built in the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577). You can choose to take the cable car both ways, or take the chairlift up and ride the toboggan down.

Go back to the hotel after lunch for a break, then be picked up again at 5.30 to enjoy dinner in HuajiaYiyuan (at your own cost), a famous restaurant along the Ghost Street. It is the only street in the city that truly never sleeps. Afterwards, walk around Sanlituan, a popular shopping and nightlife area.

Continue into the CBD and enjoy a cup of coffee on the 80th floor of the China World Tower to appreciate the beauty of Beijing illuminated at night. Finally, drive along the Chang’an Avenue and around Tian’anmen Square, admiring the many iconic buildings on either side.

DAY 3. Visit the National Grand Theatre, an ellipsoid dome of titanium and glass surrounded by an artificial lake. Then go to Liulichang Street, which is known throughout China for its traditional Chinese handicrafts. You will see a series of Qing style buildings, as well as watching painters and calligraphers working their craft.

Enjoy lunch in Jindingxuan (at your own cost), a popular Dim Sum restaurant frequented by superstars in Beijing. Then visit the Lama Temple, originally a palatial residence built in 1694 by Qing Emperor Kangxi for his fourth son, Prince Yongzheng. Continue the tour by going to the Olympic Village, and walk around to have a look at the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube (exteriors only), as well as some other iconic stadiums.
